Facilitators
Anne Brannan
Anne Brannan trained as a general nurse before moving into community health and education in a variety of regeneration areas in Glasgow and Dunbartonshire.
Since joining TPI in 2001, Anne's work has centred around community regeneration with an emphasis on capacity building of the area and local residents.
The agencies with which Anne has been associated include Health Boards, the voluntary sector, local councils and social work departments. Groups with which she has worked include: the long- term unemployed, lone parents and groups with mental health difficulties. Recently Anne has also been key to delivery of The Pacific Institute's curriculum within a large project with Remploy, a corporate sector client.
Anne is an experienced facilitator of all TPI programmes and particularly experienced in the training of local facilitators to deliver TPI's curriculum. She is passionate about the delivery of programmes that equip delegates with knowledge and skills to make informed choices regarding their personal and professional lives. To each client group she brings a sense of commitment, hard work and plenty of learning through interaction and fun.
Andy Massey
Andy Massey joined The Pacific Institute in 2001. Prior to this, Andy was Headteacher of a school in Windsor, Berkshire, where he first experienced the Investment in Excellence (IIE) programme. Andy's teaching career spans 15 years working with children from 4-13 years of age.
Andy is a highly skilled facilitator of the IIE programme and trainer of IIE facilitators. He is currently responsible for TPI's work in a number of areas, including The Midlands, Suffolk, Sussex and several London boroughs. In addition to project management, Andy plays a key role in ongoing research and product development at TPI UK.
Ian Boneham
Ian Boneham joined The Pacific Institute in September 2003, having worked closely with TPI since 1999. At that time he was headteacher at Thistley Hough High, which during his headship participated in Investment in Excellence as a whole staff. Ian later went on to become Assistant Director of Education in Stoke-on-Trent, a post he held for nearly three years, with responsibility for rolling out TPI programmes across the authority. Previous to the Thistly Hough headship, Ian had 20 years' teaching experience split evenly between two 11-18 schools in Walsall.
Ian is a dynamic communicator of The Pacific Institute's curriculum and facilitates TPI programmes in a variety of educational and leadership contexts. In addition to his current work with The Pacific Institute, Ian also works with individuals, heads, groups of heads, schools, LEA's, Manchester Metropolitan University and the National College of School Leadership.
Jane Cullinan
Having facilitated The Pacific Institute programmes since 2001, when she joined TPI, Jane is currently Facilitator Development Manager for TPI UK. Based in the London office, but travelling widely throughout the UK, she is responsible for managing facilitator recruitment, Quality Assurance and Facilitator support.
Jane's professional background was developed in the Voluntary Sector. She holds qualifications from IGA (Institute of Group Analysis London), and in Family Therapy and Cross- Cultural Counselling. In addition, she has 18 years' experience of working in the community with client groups that include refugees, asylum seekers, parents and young people from a diverse range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Taking a great interest in community transformation, she continues to manage various TPI projects within the Community Regeneration sector.
Jane is passionate about the role of the facilitator in project implementation and the coaching of others to success. More recently, she has worked with senior corporate leaders as a sought-after leadership coach. She is currently developing a coaching programme for use with TPI clients across all sectors.
Michael O'Brien
As a consultant and executive coach Michael O'Brien unravels the complexities of organizations into easy to understand interrelationships. Michael's diverse background in finance, economics and human behavior enable him to take the seemingly unpredictable relationship side of business and make it tangible and manageable. This clear understanding of corporate cultures has allowed Michael to lead some of the world's top companies to new perspectives of their strengths and of their challenges. Michael has leveraged this gift of discernment by establishing strategic relationships with consulting organizations around the world, as their culture and leadership expert.
In 1999 Michael was recruited to bring his expertise to Capstar Broadcasting to start a sales and leadership training and development company, the first in the radio industry. This development company became Clear Channel University after Capstar merged into AMFM Inc and then Clear Channel. Clear Channel University is now a critical component of the success of the largest owner of radio stations in the United States. Michael's role included curriculum development and organizational consulting with the various markets and divisions including U.S. national advertising representatives, Katz Media. After receiving his Honors Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University in 1986 Michael joined Human Synergistics Canada.
During his nine years there he grew the business 900% by listening to clients and developing new products and processes that met their needs. He educated and supported hundreds of internal and external consultants on the use of individual and organizational measurement tools. Clients included Southam Newspapers, Royal Bank of Canada, Ontario Hydro, Agriculture Canada and St. Joseph's Hospital. In 1994 he received his Master of Education degree from The University of Western Ontario.
In 1995 Michael was promoted to Director of Sales and Marketing at the home office of Human Synergistics in Plymouth, Michigan. While managing a staff of twelve, Michael continued his client-focused approach with organizations like Saturn, American Airlines, Colgate Palmolive, Hewlett Packard, Disney and the University of Michigan. With these and many other clients he helped them improve their teamwork, management, leadership and culture.
Michael lives outside of Houston in Katy, Texas with his wife, Mary Jane, and their two daughters Kate and Colleen.
James Wood
James Wood joined TPI in 1997 bringing 30 years of multi cultural community economic regeneration, health and educational experience with him, including 6 years as Chief Executive of Cruddas Park Community Trust in Newcastle upon Tyne. He has worked at all levels, from community grass roots to Political and Business Leaders. His work and study has taken him to Hungary, Morocco, Paris, El Salvador, Nicaragua, East Africa and China. He also has a special interest in complementary medicine.
Within TPI James specialises in the Education and Community Regeneration sectors, facilitating all programmes, training and supporting facilitators, managing projects and strategic planning.
Lou Tice
He may have started out as a high school teacher and football coach, but a belief in "no limits" has led Lou Tice to become one of the most highly respected educators in the world today. His singular style of teaching - taking the complex concepts and current research results from the fields of cognitive psychology and social learning theory, and making them easy to understand and even easier to use - has brought him students from all over the globe.
Lou Tice believes that excellence is a process - an achievable, continuous process that inevitably results when we learn to control how we think, what we expect and what we believe. International business, political and military leaders consult with him on how to do more with less and bring out the best in those with whom they work. Top athletes come to him for help with mastering the psychological aspects of peak performance. He works with educators on strategies that motivate both staff and students to set and achieve meaningful goals.
Lou's experience in working with Fortune 1000 companies spans over 35 years. When working with organizations, Lou translates his message into practical applications that impact corporate culture and group performance. He is a much sought after speaker because of his practical approach and commitment to high performance.
LouÕs ability as a consummate teacher and mentor has brought him to some of the world's hot spots: to the leaders of Northern Ireland, where he has worked since the mid-80's; to Guatemala, where he has worked since the signing of the Peace Accords in 1995; and to South Africa, from before the end of the era of apartheid to this very day. In 2004, he brought his considerable talents to bear in an on-going partnership with University of California head football coach, Pete Carroll, to make a positive difference in South Los Angeles.
Born and raised in Seattle, Washington where he and Diane, his wife, still make their home, Lou received his bachelor's degree from Seattle University. He went on to earn an MA in Education from the University of Washington, with a major focus in the mental health sciences. Lou is the internationally recognized author of the popular books, Smart Talk for Achieving Your Potential and Personal Coaching for Results. He is co-author of Leadership is a Performance Art with USC Head Football Coach Pete Carroll.
In the final analysis, Lou Tice is a masterful business leader, teacher and educator, who is remarkably successful at empowering individuals to achieve their full potential.
Pat Edge
Pat Edge joined The Pacific Institute in 2001. Prior to this, she held varied senior positions in Stoke- on -Trent schools. Pat experienced Investment In Excellence in the initial pilot project within the Stoke authority and she recognised that Pacific Institute courses could really make a difference by releasing potential. Pat has 32 years' experience of working with staff and students. With her specialist understanding of Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 education, Pat has also been a key contributor to the development of The Pacific Institute's Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 materials (Thinksmart and It's Up to Me).
An accomplished facilitator of The Pacific Institute's curriculum, her particular interest is in embedding the concepts of The Institute's curriculum within schools and their communities to enable shared goals for excellence to be achieved.
Peter Hall Jones
Peter Hall Jones joined The Pacific Institute in November 2003. Prior to this Peter was headteacher of Little London Community primary School and Nursery in Leeds. The school enjoyed a national reputation for innovation particularly in the fields of inclusion, extended provision, behaviour and the role of para- professionals. Peter works in a consultancy basis with a wide variety of Children's Services, national government offices, companies and organisations across the private, public and voluntary sectors, developing innovative and creative practices and approaches to leadership and management challenges.
Peter has been described as a passionate and inspirational leader, with good humour and energy . He is presently delivering TPI programmes to a variety of Educational organisations, public, private and voluntary organisations and communities.
Sue Sayles
Sue Sayles has been a facilitator for the Pacific Institute since 1997. She taught for 30 years in Yorkshire and was a headteacher for 21 years - in two primary schools. Sue's vast experience as an educator also included roles as Co-ordinator for a Primary Management Support Team in North Yorkshire, membership of the County Education Steering Group and as a tutor for Total Quality Management.
In 2001/2002 Sue was National President of the National Association of Headteachers and has spoken at conferences on four different continents. She also works as an independent consultant in education leadership and management.
Valerie Cowie
Valerie's background is in Leadership Development and Outdoor Education. She has worked with The Pacific Institute for 5 years and during this time, has become a IIE and STEPS facilitator and trainer; engaging with community groups, government organisations and regeneration projects.
Based in Scotland but working throughout the UK, Valerie relishes the challenges and opportunities provided by facilitation with a wide variety of client groups. Her facilitations have energy and dynamism and encourage a five -senses learning environment. Valerie is keen to work with individuals and organisations who seek to change their culture, promote genuine happiness and embrace autonomy.
